The reported money given to soccer icon Kalusha Bwalya was not a bribe but a debt, his confident has said.

The world football governing body has handed Bwalya a two year ban from all football-related activities and a US$100,000 fine for accepting bribes from former Asian football chief Mohammed bin Hammam.

The CAF executive committee member was among a host of African football officials caught in the storm of Bin Hammam’s bribery allegations a few years ago.

But Kalusha’s confident Mwamba Peni 11 says the money was debt.

“A debt is not a bribe. And an ethical committee, appointed by a conflicted person, is not a court of Law. Americans are just bad losers who hacked the emails of those they suspected didn’t support their bid just to remove Blatter from Fifa.

The email was very clear, it was a debt from a longtime friend. Kalu is just a victim of a move meant to kick Blatter out of Fifa. To Kalu, we shall stand by you because you are our greatest hero,” wrote Peni II on his facebook page.
