Super Division side Nchanga Rangers have fired coach Evans Sakala and his assistant Evans Mwaba, three days after the former spoke about the players’ unpaid salaries.
It is reported that Nchanga players have not received any salaries since the start of the 2018 season.
And Rangers players yesterday boycotted training sessions in solidarity with Sakala and Mwaba.
“We have not trained today [yesterday] since word went round that the coach has been fired. He has done nothing wrong, the people in the wrong are the officials,” a player who sought anonymity told the Sports Mail in Kitwe.
After a 3-1 loss to Power Dynamos on Sunday, the coach told the media that he noticed his players played more like protesting over their salaries.
The team is sponsored by Konkola Copper Mines [KCM].
