Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotion Director of operations Christopher Malunga says World Boxing Council (WBC) has granted a rematch for Catherine Phiri and Fatima Zarika of Kenya.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, Monday, Malunga said his organization wrote to WBC over some technical issues they had noted over the match which took place on 2nd November 2017 in Kenya and requested for a rematch.

Fatuma retained the WBC Super Bantamwieght title due to a unanimous point decision after 10 rounds but she had cuts above the right and bellow left eyes which left her bloodied by Catherine’s punches in the 5th round.

Catherine Phiri has gone a weight further and will now be in the super bantamweight category. About K797,000 is expected to be raised over the bout that will be played in Zambia this year.

Charles Manyuchi won’t be part of Catherine’s bout because he will be fighting in Russia on the 18th of August.

And an Upcoming boxer Davy Mwale will participate in Catherine’s bout.
